So they put $30,000 down on the mortgage and had a mortgage of $320,000 and change. When the next Christmas came they didn't have enough money to pay for gifts for their children and some of the extra seasonal gifts for the family. They didn't even have money for a Christmas tree and this was very sad. The children were very sad hearing that they may not get any Christmas gifts that year.
