If you have every wondered or thought about touring all the time and living in your RV then you will be interested in this calculation. In one of our RV loan case studies we had a couple that was retired and sold their house in New York to buy a high-end Coach worth $350,000 - that was the principal on it anyway.
They had already owned an RV for one year prior to their big upgrade so they were somewhat experienced RVers and they knew that they loved the lifestyle. So what I'm getting at is that some of you are probably wondering how much it would cost per month to live in one of these RV mansions full-time.
In this case study with a $350,000 RV we figured out that their monthly payments for a 30 year amortization. Would be $1800 per month for the payment. Of course that is just the payment and we now have to include the cost of food, RV parking, insurance, fuel, and propane. There are many other incidentals we have to add in here because people are living on the road and have to include entertainment costs and medical expenses, etc. etc. etc. So for food this couple ..........continued

from above.......said that they spent $600 a month and their insurance was $200 a month, and their phones and other devices were costing them $120 a month.
Then we had to add the fuel costs that they occurred with their RV. The fuel economy on this behemoth was not very good, coming in at 8 mi. to the gallon, and the propane costs through the winter averaged $20 a day, which is actually cheap compared to the costs I have seen with other big high-end level RV winter living. The fuel cost per month for their Coach was between $600 and $700 and that was only if they were moving between RV parks regularly. If they were staying in one RV Park or location for an entire month their fuel costs were < $20 per day over a 30 day period, meaning one long trip between parks.
So they averaged out the total fuel costs per month for the full year - about $300, and the camp ground or RV parks averaged $25 a night if you included some of the month-long packages they purchased. So now we can do the total calculation of $1800 plus $600 plus $200 plus $120 plus $20 plus $25 plus $300. Answer on next installment.
